See Rio de Janeiro Your Way with a Personalized Tour
Rio de Janeiro is a beautiful South American city brimming with things for families to see and experience. My family had so much on our “to-do” list that we didn’t know where to start. We decided a private tour with Rafa Guests In Rio would be a good choice for a great family tour in Rio de Janeiro. Local tour guide Rafael Torres Lopez made certain we were not let down!
Customized Family Tour of Rio de Janeiro
When Rafa met us at our hotel, he sat down in the lobby with us and became an instant friend. We had told him we had two young boys, and he had several options to show them Rio in a way they would enjoy.
One of his plans was to take us to the Rio Zoo, but because we had visited there the day before he quickly adjusted the itinerary to include Tijuca National Park. Throughout the day he was discussing the plans with us and making changes to give us the best tour possible.
Seeing the Local Side of Rio
Just like a friend would do, Rafa truly showed us his Rio, from his apartment in the city to a great local restaurant nearby. He took us to Niteroi, the home of his youth, and showed us not only some of the local sites, but the stunning view of Rio across the bay.
He also helped us with some common Rio phrases. For example, in Rio if someone says, “Tudo bem?” (Everything well?) you answer with, “Tudo bom!” (Everything’s good!) and vice versa. He patiently answered our questions and taught us about Rio beyond the tourist attractions.
Getting More Planning Tips
Because we had a few days left in Rio after our time with Rafa, we were able to ask him about our plans for the rest of our visit. I suggest planning a tour with a local guide early in your visit so you can benefit from his or her knowledge for the rest of your trip.
For example, we had thought we would go to the Sambadrome to see where the Carnival festivities are held, but he told us not to bother; it’s a large concrete structure with little to see outside of Carnival season. On the other hand, he was able to give us some advice about how to see Sugarloaf Mountain and avoid crowds.
Our family tour with Rafa Guests in Rio was a definite highlight of our trip. We would not have been able to see and experience so much in Rio de Janeiro without his expertise. He was a definite hit with my family!
