How to Buy Eiffel Tower Tickets and Avoid the Lines
Going to the top of the Eiffel Tower is a must do in Paris, but waiting hours in line to get there is not. Lines to ride to the top of the Eiffel Tower can be up to two hours long. Wasting two hours of precious time in Paris can be avoided. Here is how to avoid lines at the Eiffel Tower.
Buy Eiffel Tower Tickets in Advance Online
Tickets to bypass the queue are sold online at La Tour Eiffel. This seems easy enough, but it requires planning. Only a set amount of Eiffel Tower tickets are sold exactly 90 days in advance. The tickets go on sale starting at 8:30 am Paris time, and they sell out quickly!
To get these tickets, have a date and approximate time in mind and decide what type of ticket to purchase. The lifts go to either the second floor or to the top.
Next, log in to your computer and have the order ready. When it is 8:30 am Paris time, press Submit. Tickets for the busy summer months will sell out in minutes. I was able to get tickets for my family by logging in at 12:30 am. It was hard to have to commit to a date and time so far in advance, but it was completely worth it to be able to go right up the lift.
Climb the Stairs
The least expensive as well as the most physically active way is to climb the Eiffel Tower stairs. Stairs are available to the second floor of the tower. Look for the Eiffel Tower ticket office with the shortest line that says “Stair Tickets.” Climbing over 700 steps will not only be exhilarating, it will also have a shorter queue.
Arrive Before Opening
If getting up at midnight, or climbing stairs is not in your plans, another option to avoid too much waiting time is to arrive at the Eiffel Tower before it opens. The tower opens at 9 am in the summer and 9:30 am every other day of the year. Arrive at least 30 minutes before opening to avoid a long line to purchase your Eiffel Tower tickets.
