Hilton Munich City: Convenient to Fun Activities in Munich
On our road trip through southern Europe, I knew Munich would be one of my kids’ favorite stops. Munch is a beautiful city filled with history. My family got to enjoy it all with a stay at Hilton Munich City.
Convenient Location Near the Train Station
My favorite part about Hilton Munich City is that not only is it centrally located, it also sits on top of the Rosenheimer Platz S-Bahn station. The airport, or anywhere else is the city, is a quick train ride away. We parked our car in the garage and did not retrieve it until we checked out. It was so easy to go down one level from the lobby to enter the station and be anywhere we wanted to in the city riding the clean and efficient subway system. There was no complaining from my kids about a long walk back to the hotel!
Great Restaurant Options
Hilton Munich City has a variety of restaurants from a coffee shop to fine dining. Upgrade to the executive floor and enjoy breakfast and refreshments during the day. My favorite part of the lounge was the outdoor garden terraces. It was tempting to sit out there all day and look at the beautiful city, but with so much to see, who has time to sit?
Close to Fun Things to do in Munich
Hilton Munich City is just two subway stops from a pedestrian zone called the Marienplatz. Marienplatz has shopping and restaurants. Walk west shopping along Neuhauser Straße to reach Karlsplatz. Not only is there a beautiful plaza and fountain, there is a large toy store on the left.
Marienplatz is also home to the Glockenspiel. The Glockenspiel is an enormous cuckoo clock that sits on top of Neues Rathaus and it rings at 11 am, as well as 12 noon and 5 pm during the summer.
From Marienplatz, walk to the Viktualenmarkt. Viktualenmarkt is an open air market filled with meats, cheeses, fruits and crafts. Stroll though and stop by the beer garden in the middle of the market when everyone needs a rest or gather supplies for a picnic.
Museums can all be easily reached from Hilton Munich City. Take the subway to Olympiapark, built for the 1972 Summer Games. See the BMW Welt, a museum perfect for car lovers, or visit my son’s favorite, the Deutsches Museum.
