Family Ski Vacation - Whistler Winter Village

Why Hilton Whistler Resort & Spa is the Perfect Family Ski Resort for the Holidays

Posted in Articles | by

Last Christmas, my family decided to spend the holidays at Hilton Whistler Resort & Spa in British Columbia. It was our first time not spending Christmas with our family in New England. Initially, we were a bit hesitant about traveling during such a big holiday, but it turned out to be our best Christmas ever.

Hilton Whistler could not have been more warmly welcoming, comfortable and festive, and our week at this family ski resort was an amazing gift for all of us. For my husband and me, we have never experienced such a relaxing holiday. Staying at Hilton Whistler freed us from many of the busy responsibilities of celebrating at home, and we had 100% quality time with our sons. Our full attention was directed at enjoying our time together, and our boys could not have been happier.

Hilton Whistler was perfectly prepared to make our Christmas exceptional. The hotel was simply magical! Nestled in heaps of pristine, sparkling snow, the resort was decked out for the holidays. There were literally boughs of holly and lovely decorated trees everywhere, and the warmth of the lobby fireplace could not have been more appealing.

Perhaps most importantly, Hilton Whistler offers a wide range of holiday activities to enjoy together as a family. Skiing Whistler-Blackcomb is in itself one of the best activities our family has ever experienced, but there is so much more on offer. Tubing, snowshoeing, ice skating and dog sledding are also conveniently located close by Hilton Whistler. Swimming in the evening in the heated pool at the Hilton, as snowflakes gently melt on the tip of your nose, is also a wonderful experience.

If you are looking for cozier Christmas traditions, the hotel invites its guests to participate in caroling, reading ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas, decorating cookies and sharing hot chocolate and marshmallows. Perhaps one of my favorite aspects of the vacation was not having to worry about meals. The Cinnamon Bear Grille at Hilton Whistler offered a delicious, special menu for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, with cuisine that appealed to our entire family.

Our week at this amenity-rich family ski resort was the perfect way to spend the holidays together, and a gift to all of us that we will always remember: quality family time spent skiing, dining, snuggling and really taking time to enjoy Christmas, just the four of us.
