Where to Stay in Venice, Italy: Hilton Molino Stucky Venice

Posted in Articles | by

Taking a family trip to Venice, Italy offers families a chance to explore a city unlike any other. The narrow, maze-like streets and canals of Venice offer things to do like exploring history, experiencing a rich culture, and getting lost on purpose for daily adventures. Of course, I may be biased because Venice will always feel like my home, but I believe Venice is one of the most memorable cities for families to experience together.

One of the biggest dilemmas when traveling to this Italian city is where to stay in Venice, with hotels around every corner. The most important features of a hotel in Venice are accessibility, location, and amenities, and Hilton Molino Stucky Venice offers a sublime experience that you are unlikely to forget.

Four reasons to stay at Hilton Molino Stucky Venice:

1. Location, location, location

Hilton Molino Stucky, once a flourmill, is located on Giudecca, an island that overlooks the Zattere neighborhood. The view from the rooms at Hilton Molino Stucky take advantage of the location, overlooking the Giudecca Canal and offering a perspective of life in this unique city that may make it hard to leave your room.

The Giudecca is known to be one of the quieter islands in Venice, with wider walkways. It is home to many rowing clubs and artists, but one of the best features of this location is that Hilton Molino Stucky is easily accessible by vaporetto boat to the airport, train station, cruise port and the major sites in Venice. In fact, one of the amenities of Hilton Molino Stucky is a free boat shuttle from the dock of the hotel to the Zattere or San Marco, offering guests easy access all day (and night) long to all things in Venice.

2. The Rooftop Swimming Pool

As some-one who considers herself a Venetian, I have experienced Venice from many perspectives around the city, but none came close to the view of Venice from the rooftop swimming pool at Hilton Molino Stucky. From the rooftop pool you can see all the way to Piazza San Marco, with a stunning view of the Santa Maria della Salute church, which you will want to photograph all day long with the changing light of the day. During the winter seasons, guests can experience the stunning rooftop view from the Skyline Rooftop Bar.

3. The Spa

The fitness and wellness center at Hilton Molino Stucky is a small piece of decadence that guests will want to make time for. With a tight schedule during our trip, we only had time to experience the sauna, Turkish bath and hydromassage, but even a short visit was nothing short of blissful. I cannot wait to go back to Venice with more time for a spa day, to indulge in many of the treatments that the spa has to offer.

4. Food, Wine and Nutella

There is no shortage of excellent restaurants in Venice. Usually I like to explore hole-in-the-wall restaurants instead of on-site hotel dining, but eating at Bacaromi created the perfect meal to end a fabulous day in Venice. Cuisine in Venice is known for cicchetti, tapas or small plates in an informal setting, and Bacaromi is a perfect destination for a traditional and delicious meal overlooking the Giudecca Canal. The wine list was incredible; the fritto misto perfectly fried without being heavy; and the ravioli stuffed with ricotta and herbs were mouthwatering.

In addition, the Piazetta Nutella is open seasonally from May to September, offering delicacies made with Nutella. From crepes to mousse, the Piazetta Nutella does not disappoint. Plus, the unique Nutella jar lids as table tops adds a decorative element that you wish you could take home.

During the summer, the inner courtyard at Hilton Molino Stucky Venice is transformed into Piazetta Nutella offering late afternoon and evening treats.

Growing up, I spent many summers at my grandmother’s house, across the Giudecca Canal, seeing Hilton Molino Stucky from afar. Having experienced this unique Venetian hotel in person, I am definitely looking forward to finding an excuse to stay at Hilton Molino Stucky Venice again during future trips.
