Where to Stay in Fiji – Hilton Fiji Beach Resort & Spa Review

Posted in Articles | by

Fiji evokes a tropical nirvana with its turquoise blue waters, white sand beaches and over 300 islands. We stopped in Fiji for a few days on our way home from Australia and discovered a very family-friendly destination. Hilton Fiji Beach Resort & Spa was our base to experience this paradise and it was very hard to leave.

Denarau Island Location

The resort is located on man-made Denarau Island along with eight other resorts. The Bula bus stops outside the lobby every 15 minutes and makes a trip around the island. It’s a 25-minute ride to and from the airport. The bus stop to downtown Nadi is a short walk outside. It’s also very close to Port Denarau for dining, shopping and day trips to the outer islands.

Resort Amenities

The open-air lobby welcomed us with fresh scents and sights of tropical flowers that added to the resort’s ambiance. This property is expansive and never felt crowded. There’s a golf cart to help transport guests around the resort. They were always prompt when we called and needed a ride. Choose rooms near the pool or kids club if you want to walk to the facilities.

We loved the resort’s seven pools! The four Sunrise pools were for families and activities including an infinity-edged pool and small waterfall. My kids could have stayed here all week. The three, adults-only, Sunset pools surrounded by over-sized day beds were so inviting. Don’t feel like getting up? There’s always someone from the service team ready to take drinks and food orders poolside.

Get some grown-up time at the adults only Sunset Pool.

The beach isn’t ideal for snorkeling or swimming, but great for strolls and sunset viewing. Kayaks and stand-up-paddle (SUP) boards are complimentary for guests. Lawn chairs are scattered around the property for guests to relax and enjoy the ocean views. Some of our favorite spots were the hammocks between palm trees.

Don’t miss the torch lighting ceremony after sunset. Kids loved following the man dressed in native Fijian attire as he lit the torches around the property. My kids were lucky enough to light two of them.

Kids Club

The resort’s complimentary IKA Kids Club offers many scheduled activities for kids 3 to 12 years-old from 9 am-5:30 pm and 6:30 pm-8 pm daily. Kids under 3 years-old must be with a parent.

My kids participated in a cupcake decorating class, which they thoroughly enjoyed. I wish we were able to enjoy more, but we had a tight schedule. Activities range from arts and crafts, treasure hunts, sports, slumber parties and science experiments with a different daily theme.

The club facility is large enough to contain a kids’ kitchen, a theater room with movies, iPads and gaming consoles. There is also a large outdoor play area, and some activities extend to the pools. They even offer kids and teens spa treatments at reasonable prices. For parents who want some private time, babysitting services are available.

Spacious Rooms

The rooms range from a studio to a five-bedroom villa that accommodates up to 12 guests. We saw rooms with their own private plunge pools, BBQ grill and fully equipped kitchens. There is a general store on the property that sells food and drinks including gourmet BBQ packs.

We had a one-bedroom villa that was spacious enough for all four of us. It had a balcony and separate living/dining room with a medium-sized refrigerator. The living room sofa was converted into a bed for our tween and they brought in a rollaway bed for our son. There was even turn-down service with chocolates. There was plenty of storage that would make Hilton Fiji Beach Resort ideal for extended stays.

We loved the roomy bathroom with its modern fixtures. It always helps to have a separate shower and tub when traveling with kids.

Fiji Resort Restaurants

Kids eat free with each paying adult at the two main restaurants at Hilton Fiji Beach Resort, Nuku and Muravu. We ate the breakfast buffet everyday at Nuku. We loved starting our day with an ocean breeze and views, so we recommend requesting a table outside. There was a wide assortment of hot and cold items, including fresh tropical fruits and made to order omelets.

Friendly Staff

Fiji has some of the friendliest people we’ve ever met and this was also evident at the resort. From the moment we set foot on the property until after we checked out, the service was outstanding. The staff greeted us with “Bula” or hello everywhere paired with genuine smiles. They were hospitable, welcoming and always eager to help.

This is a wonderful resort that caters to various families’ needs. We would love to return for an extended stay. Hilton Fiji Beach Resort & Spa exceeded our expectations. Its great location, varied amenities and spacious rooms make this an ideal place to enjoy paradise.
