Visiting the College Football Hall of Fame in Atlanta

Posted in Articles | by

I’m not a huge football fan, but I do love college football season and all that comes with it — road trips in the crisp fall weather, tailgating all day with old friends, and watching our alma mater teams battle to win against their historic rivals. And now that we’re parents, we love sharing those experiences and that nostalgia for our colleges and football with our kids. Because it takes some effort to get the whole family on a road trip, we now have something closer to home that will get us in the football spirit, the College Football Hall of Fame.

Located just around the corner from Centennial Olympic Park in downtown Atlanta, this newly opened attraction has captured the essence of college football and all of its pageantry and traditions. From the moment you walk through the large football shaped entrance and claim your all-access pass, the College Football Hall of Fame offers a personal and interactive experience, making it a really fun place to visit as a family.

Here’s why even fair-weather football fans like me will enjoy taking their family to the College Football Hall of Fame in Atlanta:

It’s All about YOU

Your personalized visit starts with the creation of your all-access pass, where you enter your name and choose your team. Upon entering each exhibit, this smart pass interacts with many of the displays throughout the venue, causing the displays to represent your chosen team, thereby creating a highly personalized experience for every visitor.

Plenty of Hands-On Exhibits

The College Football Hall of Fame is a far cry from a stuffy museum! There is an interactive element to almost every exhibit. My personal favorite was the Fight Song Karaoke, but my daughter preferred the sportscasting green screen where she recorded her own video segment!

Visitors can practice their sportscasting skills and then save their video as a souvenir at the College Football Hall of Fame in Atlanta.

Football Playground

Guests don’t just get to see football footage and artifacts, there are opportunities to play, too! In the center of the Hall, there is a football field, or SkillZone, complete with Astroturf, where visitors can test their football skills, such as throwing and kicking the pigskin through targets and goal posts.

Create-your-own Souvenirs

Many of the hands-on exhibits automatically save the photos, drawings and recordings produced by College Football Hall of Fame visitors. We were able to view and save all of the photos and videos my daughter and her friends created during the visit to share them with our family and friends. I love that these unique souvenirs were all included in the admission price!

Visiting the College Football Hall of Fame

Based in downtown Atlanta, the College Football Hall of Fame is conveniently located near many of Atlanta’s other attractions such as the Georgia Aquarium, the World of Coke, and CNN Center. What’s more, it’s an easy walk or short cab ride from Hilton Atlanta. The College Football Hall of Fame offers its own parking deck, but it’s not cheap. I would recommend finding street parking or a more economical parking lot.

The College Football Hall of Fame is a must-see for the college football fans in your life. For those parents who have college football fans in their brood, take them to the Hall of Fame. It’s a fun place to create some lasting family memories that your kids will talk about long after you leave Atlanta.
