The Laid Back and Casual Nature of Hilton Key Largo Resort

Posted in Articles | by

Let your hair down and lose your shoes, the casual atmosphere of Hilton Key Largo Resort will turn you into a beachcomber moments after you check in. The open and airy hotel interior, the expanse of white sandy beach outside the resort’s back doors, and the gentle lapping of the waters against the shoreline will make you never want to leave.

THERE’S SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE

Located on the edge of the Everglades, Hilton Key Largo Resort offers something for every member of the family. The hiker/explorer in your clan can roam the nature trails on the property and walk the boat dock keeping watch for dolphins and other sea life.

Is there an avid reader in your brood? Feel free to park them on one of the many available lounge chairs. Quite a few of them catch just enough rays while providing the right amount of shade to accommodate gazing upon a digital reader.

Private beach facilities at the Hilton Key Largo Resort

Pick a chair, any chair. Find a great spot to read or relax on the private beach at Hilton Key Largo Resort.

But it’s the water sports that bring most guests to Hilton Key Largo and these activities don’t stop at snorkeling, sand castle building and water play either.  It’s not uncommon to find guests sailing catamarans, maneuvering kayaks, wave runners, and paddleboards and flying above the beach line on a parasail often tandem with their children. Caribbean Water Sports, one of Key Largo’s few Coast Guard certified water craft renters, has a hub on the hotel beach. You can even read about my own parasailing adventure in Key Largo with my autistic son.

Parasailing at Hilton Key Largo Resort

If my 8-year-old son with autism can go parasailing, I decided I could face my fear of heights.

CHILDREN’S ACTIVITIES

If you are traveling to Key Largo with children in tow, you will eventually meet Lisa, Hilton Key Largo’s activities director. Every kid at the resort finds her within a day of their arrival. Lisa has spent nearly two decades leading treasure hunts, organizing movie screenings, coordinating game nights and hosting pool parties at the hotel. She can size up a group in minutes and decide how far to send numbered shells into the water for enthusiastic hunters to retrieve and pair up the right youngsters to compete in games. She is part teacher, cheerleader, and coach. She succeeded in cultivating new found clue-following skills and treasure hunting techniques in my young autistic son.

SUNSETS AND S’MORES

Cap off your laid back beach day with live music and s’mores on the beach at sunset or dining at the hotel’s Treetops Restaurant with the windows wide open. The casual, come as you are feeling of this resort is a vacation memory that will have your family begging you to bring them back again and again.
