Family Paradise Found on Florida’s South Atlantic Coast
Life is busy. Really, really busy. For all of us: grown-ups and kids alike. Sometimes families just need a real, bona fide vacation, an escape from our busy-ness. The kind of escape you don’t have to travel halfway around the globe to get to, and the kind you won’t have to take out a loan to afford. One that doesn’t include standing in long lines but instead is filled with self-rejuvenating relaxation, beautiful surroundings, tranquil ocean breezes, warm sunshine, delicious food, other happy families and just enough excitement to keep it interesting.
I found that place. Actually, we found that place. And it was so delightful. So refreshing. So vacation.
Anyone who follows my writing knows that, as a personal rule, I generally don’t just write about a resort or a hotel, per se. I write about an area (as in a city or town); I write about activities (the adventurous kind is a favorite of my family); and I write about traveling tips and tricks I’ve learned along the way. Well, I am breaking my rule. I am breaking it because this place, The Diplomat Beach Resort, is something more than worthy and something families should hear about. It’s what a vacation should be.
Oh, how do I love thee? Let me count the ways.
3 Reasons to Stay at The Diplomat Resort & Spa in Hollywood, FL
1. Convenient Location
Located in Hollywood Beach, Florida and directly on the Atlantic Ocean beachfront, The Diplomat resort is just 10 minutes from Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport and 30 minutes from Miami International Airport. There is literally a smorgasbord of flights each day from all around the world (and many at reduced rates) to get you here. It doesn’t get much easier than that.
2. Something For Everyone
Seriously. If you’re anything like me and you like to float in the ocean, splash in the pool (or pools in this case), bask in the sun or sip frozen drinks as you read a book in the shade of a cabana, this is your place. If you’re like my husband and my kids and want to body surf, jet ski, kayak or paddle board, this is your place. They even have a beachside water playground and kid-sized water slides too.
If yours is a foodie family like mine, you’ll love the the culinary endeavors on-site that are led by celebrity chefs. You’ll find seven restaurants at The Diplomat to delectably satisfy your cravings, and that doesn’t include the ice cream shop, the market-type store, room service or the hotel bar. Everywhere we ate (and I think we ate everywhere) was fantastic.
For superior relaxation, you can visit their incredibly indulgent spa, practice yoga during the sunrise beach class or drop off the kiddos for a few hours of fun at the Kids Club…ahh. Of course, you can also work off some extra steam in their upscale fitness center, take a walk on the beach or just laugh and have a blast singing tunes in one of the private karaoke rooms, which were a huge hit for my family, especially my teen daughters.
And, did I mention that this resort just underwent a $100 million renovation to include all newly updated rooms, hotel common areas and furnishings too? Aesthetically pleasing and incredibly inviting is an understatement. You really won’t need (or want) to leave.
3. Just Around the Corner
While there is plenty to do (or not do, depending on how you look at it) at The Diplomat Beach Resort, you may decide to get a sneak peak of some South Florida scenery while you’re in the area. If shopping is your bag, just a 10-minute stroll gets you to the historic Hollywood Boardwalk (a must-see in my opinion) for local shops and souvenirs or a 10-minute ride takes you to the large and upscale Aventura Mall.
Just across the street is a private marina on the Intracoastal Waterway where you can catch a ride on a water taxi or hop on a city trolley for a little more local exploration. And, if you’ve always wanted to spend an afternoon or evening enjoying the authentic South Beach vibe, you’ll get there in under 30 minutes by car.
I’m not too sure what else I can say to accurately share my sentiments. Just know that I speak from the heart when I say, The Diplomat Beach Resort is a family paradise. It was the ultimate relaxation destination and a beautiful location that just oozes a classic and chic Old Florida feel with all the comforts of a modern resort. Not only did it epitomize the word “vacation” in every possible way, it was also undeniably one of our very favorites, and I definitely recommend a visit.
