One of the Best Family Resorts in Puerto Rico – Caribe Hilton
Flying home from Puerto Rico I was seated next to a family that had lived in Puerto Rico all of their lives. They were taking a family trip to California and the Grand Canyon. After swapping travel tips I asked them what they recommend as the best family resorts in Puerto Rico. They confirmed my thoughts and said the perfect resort for families in Puerto Rico is Caribe Hilton.
Caribe Hilton sits on a private beach and lagoon in San Juan. It is just 15 minutes from the airport and minutes from Old San Juan. Popular spots on the east side of Puerto Rico such as El Yunque rain forest, Fajardo and Luquillo are 45-60 minutes from Caribe Hilton. We had a rental car for the week, but taxis were readily available. Hertz rental car is on-site, or Allied Rental car is located down the street if you are looking for a daily rental.
We stayed in the main tower that had been recently renovated. The rooms were spacious and my daughter is still talking about the cool artwork in the room. The balconies are large and were my favorite spot at the end of the day. There is also a small refrigerator in every room. If your family is looking for more space, Condado Lagoon Villas at Caribe Hilton will meet your needs. There are studios, one- or two- bedroom villas with full kitchens.
Favorite Things for Kids
There is so much for kids at Caribe Hilton. My kids were quickly won over as each child guest receives a welcome gift of beach toys. There is also a playground on site and kayaks and paddle boats for use in the lagoon. Both of my kids will tell you that Hilton Caribe pools rate a ten. There are multiple levels with waterfalls.
My son’s recommendation is to go to the end of the dock at night and there is a huge spotlight pointing in to the water. You can see deep in to the ocean and all the huge fish swimming by. My daughter liked the garden where iguanas, peacocks and ducks reside.
Caribe Hilton was a great place for my family’s first visit to Puerto Rico. My kids loved exploring the hotel and I loved the relaxing Caribbean atmosphere. How can you go wrong at the birth place of the Piña Colada?
