Talking Art at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles

Posted in Articles | by

Los Angeles is renowned as the entertainment capital of the world. However, if you are looking for entertainment outside the bright lights of Hollywood, check out LA’s thriving art scene. Visit the Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) to add a little art and culture to your vacation.

The MOCA has three locations: MOCA Grand Avenue, MOCA Geffen and MOCA PDC. In total, the museum’s permanent collection includes over 6,800 pieces of work that explore abstract expressionism, minimalism, postmodernism and more. Besides the amazing pieces, the MOCA stands out from other museums because of their fantastic use of technology to bring art to life.

This technology touch along with the spacious exhibit space makes the MOCA a perfect attraction for a young art lover. Plus if you are a student or an educator, they have one-of-a-kind events geared for you so definitely browse through the different sections on the MOCA’s education page to make the most of your visit.

In addition, educators offer conversational walk-throughs of current exhibitions at MOCA Grand Avenue and The Geffen Contemporary at MOCA. Tours begin in the lobby and last about 45 minutes; no reservations are required for individuals. These tours are free with admission and are offered on Thursday evenings at 6 pm and 7 pm, as well as Saturdays and Sundays at 12 pm and 2 pm.

Open almost every day throughout the year, the MOCA Grand Avenue location is the perfect place to appreciate modern art with your family. Plus with Hilton Checkers Los Angeles just a short walk away, there really are no excuses.
