One of the Best Hotels Near Universal Studios Hollywood – Hilton Los Angeles/Universal City
My family had been thinking about going to Universal Studios Hollywood for a while. Despicable Me, The Simpsons, Transformers and Jurassic Park are some of my kids’ favorite movies. With the opening of the Despicable Me 2 ride, I knew we had found the perfect time to visit. Universal Studios never disappoints, and one of the best hotels near Universal Studios Hollywood is Hilton Los Angeles/Universal City.
Hilton Los Angeles/Universal City is the most convenient place to stay when visiting Universal Studios Hollywood. It is located directly across the street. A pedestrian bridge connects Hilton Los Angeles/Universal City to Universal Studios Hollywood. It was an quick five minute walk for my family. Strollers must be carried up and down some steps, but there is also a complimentary shuttle.
Universal Studios Hollywood is located in a very congested area so driving in and out can be time consuming. In addition, general parking adds another $16 to the cost of the day, and it’s a bit of a hike through CityWalk to get to Universal Studios if you don’t spend extra for preferred ($25) or front gate ($30) parking.
Another plus to the location is that it is easy to go back to the hotel for an afternoon rest. A quick nap or swim revived my family in the heat of the afternoon. We could then easily return to the park refreshed for evening fun.
Hilton Los Angeles/Universal City is large, so there are plenty of room options for your family. Our room overlooked Universal Studios Hollywood. It was fun to plan out our day, and see some of the behind-the-scenes activities before we got to the park.
The staff is also very accommodating. We met visitors from all over the world who could not wait to see Hollywood, and we could see the staff at Hilton Universal made everyone feel at ease.
Cafe Sierra, one of the restaurants at Hilton Los Angeles/Universal City, hosts one of the largest buffets that I have ever seen. It is held on weekend nights and listed as “Vegas” style. There are seafood and carving stations, as well as a dessert bar that included fresh crepes and cotton candy. We decided appetizers in the lounge was enough for us.
Breakfast is also served in the same buffet area. My family filled up on made-to-order omelets before a long day in the park. My favorite dining discovery at Hilton Los Angeles/Universal City was that the Starbucks located in the hotel serves ice cream. It was the perfect late night snack.
What to do in Hollywood
Not only is Hilton Los Angeles/Universal City ideal for visiting the park, it is also a great location for touring Hollywood. The Hollywood Walk of Fame is just a 15 minute drive away. See the stars and the famous theaters. While on on the Walk of Fame, don’t miss Sweet! It is the largest candy store I have ever seen. My kids both made custom candy bars that were tasty souvenirs.
We also went to La Brea Tar Pits and passed by the Hollywood Bowl and the Hollywood sign on the way. The famous Santa Monica beach and pier are also a short drive away.
My family had a blast in Los Angeles, and we were fortunate to stay at one of the best hotels near Universal Studios Hollywood. Plan your visit to Hilton Los Angeles/Universal City, because those adorable Minions are awaiting your arrival!
