Hilton Los Cabos Review Family Resort

Why Hilton Los Cabos is Perfect for Families

Posted in Articles | by

Many people assume that beach resorts are for couples, honeymooners, and singles and only for adult getaways. I admit that I have shied away from some locations for similar reasons.

Our first foray into the beach resort was at Caribe Hilton in Puerto Rico, which became one of my favorite vacations ever. When we were looking for a location for another vacation, we were unevenly split between a beautiful Hilton that many of my friends had visited (my vote) and going to Mexico (everyone else’s vote).

After researching the available Hilton hotels, we decided on Hilton Los Cabos Beach & Golf Resort because some of our other friends gave it rave reviews. We also scheduled our visit to coincide with the reopening of the resort after suffering damage from Hurricane Odile.

Our vacation in paradise convinced me that Hilton Los Cabos is perfect for families. Read my review below to learn about our favorite parts of the resort.

Kids Club

The Kids Club at Hilton Los Cabos is one of the main reasons why I loved staying at this resort. There are many fun activities available that appeal to a variety of ages, including movies, video games, air hockey, board games, and crafts. My girls wanted to visit the Kids Club every day for at least a couple of hours. During that time, they created art, played board and card games, and made an authentic piñata. The piñata was a project over the course of three days.

Making piñatas at Kids Club was one of the fun activities at Hilton Los Cabos.

Honestly, I was excited at the prospect of trying out a Kids Club, but I wasn’t sure I was going to follow through. I am pretty protective and sheltering, and I couldn’t imagine taking my children to a foreign country and leaving them with strangers. We visited our second day at the resort, and I felt very comfortable with the child care staff and the supervision in Kids Club.

Hotel Amenities & Activities

We assumed that we would spend our days swimming, on the beach, and traveling to nearby towns. In over eight days, we left the property twice. There simply wasn’t ever a need to leave!

After a delicious breakfast each morning, we headed straight to the beautiful infinity pool where we planted ourselves for the rest of the day. The poolside service is excellent. There is a poolside restaurant and a swim-up bar for convenience. (Side note: Order the hamburger. No joke. Best. Hamburger. Ever.)

My Kindle and I alternated between a lounge chair and the pool until we packed up for dinner each day. The hotel provided books to read by the pool, cold (iced!) towels, frozen fruit kabobs, tropical fruit popsicles, and chair massages.

The hotel also hosted afternoon and evening activities. We took a cooking class where the chef instructed each of us on how to make a bowl of the resort’s famous guacamole. My children continue to rave about what has become their Gold Standard Guacamole!

One class offered the opportunity to make the signature Hilton Los Cabos guacamole.

We also took a mixology class where we learned to make the resort’s signature Mojito. They even adapted the recipe and allowed the girls to make one without the alcohol.

One evening, we watched a movie under the stars, complete with popcorn and punch. These amenities and activities vary by day and are published in the weekly calendar that can be obtained at the concierge desk.

Amazing Staff

All of these things are nice. We loved the hotel amenities, but the experience was great because of the staff. Jorge (George of the Jungle), is a Hilton sensation. He is friendly, helpful, and enjoys making your family’s trip memorable. After all, he delivers those delicious popsicles!

We loved eating at the restaurants at Hilton Los Cabos. Besides enjoying the fabulous food, we met the most fantastic staff who were gracious and catered to our every desire. It didn’t hurt that they called the girls “princesses” each time they saw them! They made the experience memorable. Victor, the restaurant manager, always made a point to speak with us, ask about our day, and provide us with anything we needed.

On our last day, I had a question that Victor was not able to immediately answer. He took my email address, and I received an email with my answer shortly after we returned home. Even today, what he did to make our trip so wonderful makes me smile. Victor is the best!
