5 Fun Things to do in Boston with Teens
There are countless educational and historical activities for families in Boston, but if you have already seen the major sites or you are traveling with a teen, you may want to know about a few different and exciting experiences. Here are my recommendations for some fun things to do in Boston with teens.
What to do in Boston with Teens
If the Duck Tour or whale watching are a little too leisurely for your teen, consider Codzilla, a high speed boat ride in the Boston Harbor. The boat goes up to 40 miles per hour with enough turns and spins to thrill any adventure-loving teen. This is a high energy ride with music blaring and you WILL get wet!
2. Urban Adventure Quest
Most teens like anything that has to do with a smartphone, so use that to your advantage with this Amazing Race-type game. You download the challenge at Urban Adventure Quest and then work in groups of 2 to 5 people to follow clues and solve puzzles to get points and move on to the next challenge.
The teams with the most points make the leaderboard, or if you have several groups you can compete against one another. While playing the game, we saw and stopped at Boston Common, Freedom Trail, Paul Revere’s House and Quincy Market. It was a fun, interactive way to see some major sites.
3. Sporting Events
If your teen is a sports fan, then consider watching a game in this sports-oriented city. Whether it’s the Red Sox or Celtics, you will have fun watching one of Boston’s well known teams with local fans. If you are not in town during a game, touring Fenway Park is another great activity for teens.
4. Boston Pizza Tour
Most teens love pizza, so a great way to see the city is a tour based around their favorite food. Boston Pizza Tours offers 2 1/2-hour guided tours that include a walk through the North End and slices of pizza from three famous pizzerias. It’s a great way to see Boston, get a little history, and compare the best pizza spots in Boston.
5. Salem, MA
If you want history with a dose of witchcraft, then consider a trip outside of Boston to Salem, MA which is about an hour from the city. You can learn more about the Salem witch trials by watching a re-enactment movie at the Visitor Center and seeing the narrated life-size drama sets at the Salem Witch Museum.
While traveling to Boston with your teen, a convenient hotel is Hilton Boston Back Bay. Hilton Back Bay is located down the block from a high-end bowling alley, within walking distance of Fenway Park, and close to good shopping at Prudential Center.
Freedom Trail, Boston Harbor and the New England Aquarium are all well-known attractions in Boston that you should consider checking out. However, if you’re looking to entertain older kids keep in mind these ideas for fun things to do in Boston with teens.
