Free National Park Days in 2016
This year, the National Park Service turns 100 years old, and as part of this celebration they want more and more families to be able to experience the beauty and splendor of our National Parks. There will be 16 days in 2016 in which all of the National Park Service sites that normally charge an entrance fee will offer free admission to everyone.
Per the National Park Service website, the fee waiver includes entrance fees, commercial tour fees, and transportation entrance fees. Please note that you might still encounter other fees for things such as camping, tours, concessions, etc.
Entrance-fee free national park days in 2016:
- January 18: Martin Luther King Jr. Day
- April 16 through 24: National Park Week
- August 25 through 28: National Park Service Birthday
- September 24: National Public Lands Day
- November 11: Veterans Day
National parks are such a great way for families to experience the beauty of nature and the history of our country. National park trips are often easy to plan as there are so many parks across the nation, more than 400 parks to be exact. Out of those, only 127 national parks normally have an entrance fee while the others are free all of the time. Even with a fee, national parks are always economical, with entrance fees that range from $3 to $30, and that makes for a pretty inexpensive day of experiencing the grand and amazing wonders of our great nation.
