Downtown Scottsdale Restaurants and Shopping

Posted in Articles | by

Scottsdale is the perfect destination for dining and shopping, not to mention the year round sunshine. One of my favorite parts of Scottsdale is Downtown Scottsdale.

Downtown Scottsdale made of districts that combine restaurants, shopping, entertainment with a mix of old and new. Some of the districts include, Old Town, Scottsdale Fashion Square and Scottsdale Waterfront. Hop on the free trolley and explore the great Downtown Scottsdale restaurants and shopping.

Downtown Scottsdale Parking and Transportation

Downtown Scottsdale starts near the corner of Scottsdale and Camelback Road. Large parking garages are available at Scottsdale Fashion Square or at Scottsdale Waterfront. There is also street parking in Old Town.

After parking, you can catch the free Scottsdale Trolley. The trolley runs frequently and there are stops all throughout Downtown Scottsdale. My kids loved the trolley and it was a fun way to rest while seeing the sights.

Old Town Scottsdale

Old Town Scottsdale is lined with shops that are styled to look like the Old West. To tour Old Town, I recommend starting near the corner of Marshall Way and 3rd Ave. This is the location of the map stand. Here you will find information and maps to help you plan touring in Scottsdale and well as suggestions for the rest of Arizona.

Old Town shops sell many southwestern souvenirs, artwork and one-of-a-kind items. For kids, there is a candy and toy shop near 1st and Marshall, or take them to the longtime-favorite ice cream parlor, Sugar Bowl.

Scottsdale Fashion Square

Scottsdale Fashion Square is a large indoor mall and a go-to location for whatever you might need. The mall includes stores like Nordstrom, Barneys New York, Crate & Barrel as well as movie theaters.

There are plenty of quick and easy restaurants for kids. My daughter’s favorite is Pita Jungle or Five Guys Burgers and Fries is also very popular. Try Z Tejas Grill for great southwestern food.

Scottsdale Waterfront

Scottsdale Waterfront restaurants allow you to dine in the outdoors. The Herb Box and Barrio Queen near the Scottsdale Waterfront have beautiful outdoor patios for dining.

If you are looking for a quick and easy meal for your family, go to the Marketplace at Olive & Ivy at Scottsdale Waterfront. The entrance is on the side of the restaurant. The Marketplace has grab and go breakfasts, sandwiches, salads and sides. You can take your picnic down by the water and enjoy the sun on the grass.

Where to Stay

When visiting Downtown Scottsdale, stay at the nearby Hilton Scottsdale Resort & Villas. The resort is also near one of my favorite parks for kids, McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park. Kids can ride trains and the carousel or play on the multiple playgrounds.
