4 Best Restaurants in St. Louis, MO for Kids

Posted in Articles | by

When in St. Louis, you have to sample the world famous fare! While there are hundreds of options, we enjoyed several kid-friendly places to eat. Here is our list of the 4 best restaurants in St. Louis, MO for kids.

Pi

Just around the corner from Hilton St. Louis Downtown at the Arch, is a fantastic pizzeria named Pi. Being a bit of a nerd, I first took the time to appreciate the math puns that abound within these walls. However, I was quickly distracted by the delicious aromas coming from the kitchen.

We ordered — without shame — the billy goat chips and the garlic bread as an appetizer. Alone, that could have served as dinner. But, alas, we also split a create-your-own pizza. My advice: go with the deep dish pizza cornmeal crust pizza. Even you you aren’t a fan of crust. You will change your mind. I wasn’t even a pizza fan until I ate here.

Make this stop. You won’t regret it. For the adults on your trip, there is an admirable selection of craft beers. Personally, I can’t get enough of the names of the signature cocktails: Pi Squared, Irrational Number, Thymes Infinity…they slay me.

Pappy’s Smokehouse

As seen on foodie networks and shows, Pappy’s Smokehouse is the place to go for St. Louis style BBQ. We actually walked to Pappy’s from the hotel. In my defense, I got erroneous information from my phone. While it is doable, I don’t recommend it. We used Uber to get back to the hotel.

Pappy’s is world famous, and as such, you need to a few warnings. First, the line is long. Always. It doesn’t matter when you go, prepare to wait in line. However, the service is very fast and the line moves quickly. Arrive early. You don’t want the dreaded “Sold Out” sign. Once the BBQ is gone, they close the restaurant until the next day. Don’t miss out on this brisket!

The Fountain on Locust

Finish off your day with a little dessert. The Fountain on Locust is across the street from Pappy’s. Walk off a little of that brisket as you cross the street to order one of their signature ice cream sundaes. We might have ordered four different sundaes, and we might have shared them all. They were all huge and delicious.

Tucker’s Place Soulard

If you have room for one more meal in your day (and why not?), make your way to Tucker’s Place Soulard. There are three locations, but we visited the one on South 12th Street. We were hungry for a steak and heard that this is one of the best St. Louis has to offer. This location is a two-story building with a bustling bar area downstairs and a large seating area upstairs. The atmosphere is upscale but welcoming and homey. The restaurant is filled with a beautiful collection of antiques. We weren’t disappointed with the food or service, and the steaks were impeccable.
