Our Favorite Aruba Hotel
Our last trip to Hilton Aruba Caribbean Resort really opened my eyes to the benefits of staying at a beach resort rather than a vacation rental. I was floored by how many choices for activities we had. You really can stay busy or just take a break from it all in Aruba. Here were our favorite aspects of the resort.
4 Reasons Why Hilton Aruba is the Best Aruba Resort
1. Tropical Bird Experience
A large variety of tropical birds reside in a special section of the resort, and you can visit throughout your stay. My kids loved stopping by to say hi to the birds on the way to the pool or beach.
Each morning, the bird handlers bring out several of the birds to interact with the guests near the beach. You are not allowed to feed the birds without the handlers being present, but during this time you can bring a couple crackers and hand feed the birds. I recommend coming early, because sometimes they aren’t hungry for the crackers! The birds know how to say a few phrases, and you can ask to hold one or two of the birds for a unique photo opportunity.
2. Activities and Kids Club
Each day, the resort offers planned activities that you and your family can do together. Examples include a bike ride to the famous lighthouse at the tip of the island, mini spa facials, and evening bingo. We planned our days based on the activities provided by the hotel.
The Kids Club has great hours of operation and accepts kids ages 4 and up. In the afternoon, after hitting the beach for the morning, the kids enjoyed cooling down in the air conditioning and playing some board games or watching a movie, which allowed my husband and I to enjoy a little couple time, too! They also offered free babysitting to resort guests on weekend evenings if you dined in one of the hotel restaurants.
3. The Beach and Pools
Hilton Aruba Caribbean Resort is situated on one of the best parts of Palm Beach. The water is calm and clear, and you can enjoy drinks and lunch right at your palapa. Make sure to reserve your palapa the night before, so you can snag the choicest front row view.
If you tire of the salt and sand, check out the crystal clear pools. The landscaping is truly amazing, so you still feel like you’re connected to nature even though you’re at the pool. The pools feature zero-depth entry and a waist-height shelf along the perimeter, which is excellent for toddlers and new swimmers. Catch an aqua aerobics class in the morning after breakfast or play a quick game of pool volleyball to get a little physical activity in your day.
4. Go Clubbin’ (family-friendly style)
Palm Beach Club rooms in the Aruba Tower include breakfast, tea and evening cocktails in the lounge, in addition to a reserved beach palapa, preferred restaurant seating, eforea Spa credit and a discount on pool cabana rental.
The staff in the lounge remembered our family by name and were so friendly and accommodating. They made scrambled eggs for my daughter when they weren’t a buffet selection and made sure that everyone had what they wanted to eat and drink.
Stop in for afternoon tea for a snack after the beach and later for drinks and hot appetizers heavy enough to be a meal. There is also a balcony if you care to sit outside and enjoy ocean views.
