3 Fun Things to do in Mystic for the Holidays
1. Mystic Seaport Lantern Light Tours
During most November and December weekends at the Mystic Seaport you will see families bundled up and ready for an outdoor adventure that transports you back to Christmas Eve in 1876. A New England holiday tradition, Lantern Light Tours offers a 70-minute progressive play. Through five scenes and a horse-drawn carriage ride, you will discover the true meaning of the holiday season.
Tickets range from $25 to $32. Advance registration is required and tours are limited to groups of 16. Be prepared to walk through grass, cobblestones and more. Tours are stroller and wheelchair friendly but contact the Mystic Seaport prior to your visit so they can accommodate.
2. Olde Mistick Village
Olde Mistick Village is a picturesque family attraction with over 30 shops, restaurants, and a movie theater. Everyone in the family will eat and be merry as they stroll through this 1720 New England Village. Enjoy one-of-a-kind shopping during extended holiday hours through December 23. Admission is free.
3. Mystic Aquarium Winterfest
During most weekends in December until New Year’s Eve, the Mystic Aquarium will be filled with holiday cheer as their annual Winterfest descends. Live music, pictures with Santa, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer 4-D, ice sculptures and the usual aquatic happenings will be taking place as the aquarium celebrates the holidays.
Most Winterfest activities are included with aquarium admission. However, if you’re looking for a deal, the Sea Everything Mystic Pass Card that combines the aquarium with Mystic Seaport and other discounts is worth the price.
